5 Study Spaces You Need To Know About Before Exam Week!
It’s week 12 and exams are fast approaching, but where are you going to study when the library is full or you just need a quiet place of your own or a change of environment? Fear not, Social Media reporter Mindy Davies shares her top five study spaces on the Gold Coast campus as we prepare for finals season!
In the 5 years I have been studying here at Griffith Uni’s Gold Coast Campus there have been some huge changes, which fortunately means loads of new study spaces, and I like to try them all.
So, here are my top five study spaces that you need to use while preparing for finals:
1. The Student Lounge in G42, the new Business building (on Parklands Drive)
The new business building only opened last July, which gives it a fresh feel perfect for getting focused on exams. Another plus is the delicious coffee served just downstairs, to keep you going through the day!
2. Study kiosk under G31 Arts and Education building
This is the perfect location to get some extra study done, if you like fresh air, and open spaces. It’s kind of a hideaway and stays shady, so the sun won’t be too much of a distraction. You can keep your laptop charged, eat your lunch, and enjoy the environment around you, as long as you look up every now and then… 🙂
3. Learning Centre at G27 Business building (on Alumni place)
I like this learning centre because you can almost always get a computer if you need it and there are 4 project rooms which are great for getting a group of friends together to study. It’s open from 8am – 10pm so there’s also plenty of time for last minute cramming!
4. The Courtyard (right in the centre of campus)
This picturesque courtyard can be found in the middle of the campus between G05 Health and G01 Business. There is always a table free, if it’s a sunny day there will be just enough light streaming through that your toes will stay warm but you won’t get sunburnt. Make sure your laptop is charged before you head out here as there are no power outlets available.
5. Student lounge G40
Last but not least is the student lounge in G40 Health Centre on the north end of campus. This can be found by heading up the elevators to level 4. Here you will find a bank of computers on one side and a wall of whiteboards on the other. Perfect for group or solo study, there is a great view to give your eyes a break when you need it!
