The 3 Best Pokemon Study Stops in Brisbane’s South Bank
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you have probably heard about the mobile app sensation that is Pokemon Go. Music student and social media reporter Chris Mc Nee, gives us the lowdown on why our South Bank campus is a Pokemon hotspot.
Since its release a month ago, Pokemon Go has been killing it with more than 100 million downloads. So the chances are that you, or somebody you know is out and about trying their best to track down a Pikachu.
From a student’s perspective, those of us lucky enough to spend a lot of our time at the South Bank campus are experiencing an absolute Pokemon bonanza.
The campus on Brisbane’s South Bank, whilst always a great spot to grab a coffee and get some study done, is now swarming with Pikachu and his pals. But if you have been left in the dark and don’t know the hot spots do not fret because I’ve got your back…
If you’re still not sure what I am talking about, visit Lifehacker for a full lowdown – What Is Pokémon Go and Why Is Everyone Talking About It?
1.South Bank Ferry Terminal
This spot is already famous Brisbane wide for being an absolute Pokemon gold mine.
At all times of the day you can encounter at least 100 plus fellow Pokemon trainers enjoying the scenic river views whilst catching as many Magikarps as they can.
The reason for its popularity is that it is situated between three almost perpetual Pokemon lures.
This spot is great for sitting down with a few text books, sinking a few coffees and getting stuck into some pretty serious study.
It has the added bonus that when you need a study break you can open up your Pokemon Go App and be overwhelmed by Slowpokes. 🙂
2.Southbank Beach
Streets Beach at South Bank cops a lot of flak for being, well a fake beach. But, if you know what you are doing, the very same beach is a great little spot to set up.
There are some lovely grassy knolls near the main promenade which get just the right amount of sun and makes them great spots to set up with your books and coffees.
Or you can go the whole deal and bring a towel and set up on the beach itself, I’m not sure exactly how much study you are likely to get done, but hey, you might catch some rays and get a nice tan.
Those rays aren’t all you’re likely to catch with the beach being populated by a substantial number of Psyducks.
3.The Brisbane Wheel
If you are a fan of grassy knolls with appropriate levels of sunlight, but aren’t ready to enjoy the somewhat challenging aesthetic of the fake beach, then the Brisbane Wheel is for you.
Just behind the wheel is a great lawn where you can set up either on the Xylophonic Chairs or just lie around on the grass.
This spot is made all the better when you realize you can couple your study time with the thrill of competitive Pokemon battling.
Once you have walked around South Bank and caught some tough Pokemon, you can test their mettle right here. Be warned though this Pokemon Gym is one of the most competitive in Brisbane. I once held it for 7 minutes and it is still something I brag about to anyone that will listen.
So there you have it, the best Pokemon/Study spots in South Bank. Good luck my fellow Uni students and Pokemon trainers. Now you’re in the know I’m sure you will become the very best, like no one ever was.
