Top 10 Last Minute Summer Adventures
Sadly, summer holidays are almost over. However, you still have a little bit of time to make the most of the summer break before Uni starts for another year. Here are our top 10 suggestions to fill your final weeks of holidays.
- Take a barista course
We all need coffee to get through those long days at uni, but why not become a coffee connoisseur? Black Board Coffee offers barista courses at their Café Academy in Burleigh Heads. Take an Intro to latte art course and learn how to make coffee like a pro. A barista course may also come in handy if you are looking for part-time work on the Coast.
- Get crafty and creative
For something a little bit different, why not check out The Craft Parlour at Palm Beach. Get your creative juices flowing and take part in one of the many workshops available. From beading and ceramics to macramé, there is something here for everyone.
- Mornings will never be the same
Yoga, coffee and beach views are a great way to shake off the morning blues. BSKT café offers yoga upstairs and coffee downstairs – what more could you want?
- Re-living your childhood!
Got energy to burn? How about you put your golfing skills to the test and try your hand at Putt Putt or take a fun work out at Bounce Inc. and the Air Factory. Get competitive with friends and see how you go!
- Escape to the hills
Escape the hustle and bustle of the Gold Coast and retreat to the beautiful Gold Coast Hinterland. Explore Tamborine Mountain, take a tree-top walk at O’Reilly’s National Park or check out the waterfalls at Springbrook. Take a drive and see what you can find.
- Gold Coast night markets
If you have a spare Friday or Saturday night make sure you check out Miami Marketta or NightQuarter at Helensvale. Both night markets offer a wide variety of delectable delights, live entertainment, giftware and numerous other goodies. Get a group of friends together and head on down.
- Barefoot Bowls
The oldies can’t have all the fun! Why not kick off your shoes and hit the green? Check out Barefoot Bowls at Burleigh Bowls Club from 12-5pm for an easy Sunday afternoon.
- Stand-up paddle boarding at Currumbin Creek
The Gold Coast is renowned for it’s beaches so it would be criminal of us not to include a beach activity. Why not go stand-up paddle boarding or kayaking in Currumbin Creek? Water sports are a great way to stay fit and cool in the summer months and there are numerous hire facilities that make it easy to get out on the water.
- Sunset views at Burleigh Hill
Take a picnic or pick up a pizza or fish and chips and enjoy the sweeping views of the ocean and the Gold Coast skyline from Burleigh Hill. You won’t be disappointed!
- Movies
Escape the heat and check out some of the great new releases in cinemas. With awards season upon us we are sure there will be something to catch your eye.
Keep an eye on Griffith Uni’s Facebook and Instagram over the next few weeks, as we have some great movie pass giveaways for you guys to check out Hidden Figures and Logan!!!
