Make the Most Of Student Exchange Opportunities
Graduations are getting closer by the day. Luckily, there is still enough time for us to speak to a few graduates before they leave.
Journalism and Business student Jessica Henderson has absolutely blown us away with her amazing achievements throughout her time at Griffith University. Not only did she spend time in the Netherlands and Denmark as part of the Europe in the World program, but she has also already landed a full-time job in her field.
We sat down with Jessica to find out more about her experience and her secrets for success.
Tell us a bit about your degree and why you chose it…
“I was always good at business in high school, so I thought that doing a Bachelor of Business was a good decision. But I didn’t want to go to university for just one degree and I was always passionate about writing and telling stories – so Bachelor of Journalism with a Bachelor of Business was a natural fit.”
What has your journey at Griffith been like?
“I have had some of the best times at Griffith. I have made amazing friends (even with some lecturers!) and have learnt a lot about applying my business and journalism skills in the workplace.”
What has been the highlight of your Griffith experience?
“In 2015 I was chosen to take part in the Europe in the World program in the Netherlands and Denmark. Only six students were chosen to take part in this advantaged journalism course.
How are you feeling about graduating?
“I am very excited to be graduating but sad to be closing the door on the student lifestyle.”
What advice would you give to student’s entering their final year of university?
“Go on exchange if you can – it will make your final year a lot of fun and make you stand out in the workplace.”
What are your plans after graduation?
“I am already working full-time, but I think I will do another degree.”
We are certainly looking forward to seeing the amazing things Jessica achieves as a Griffith University alumni in the future.
