Top three budget friendly restaurants for your next study break (Gold Coast)
Week 11 is here and for many of us, that means spending our time scrambling towards deadlines and turning our attention towards exams. Studies have shown that taking efficient study breaks can help you be more productive.
Why not mix together the need for a study break with the need to eat? Now, I get it – you’re poor. You’ve had to cut down your shifts to take on the extra study load and your budget is tight. I hear you. And that is exactly why I present to you, my top three budget friendly (and relatively healthy) restaurants on the Gold Coast.
This list has something for everyone. So, whether you’re gluten free, vegetarian, vegan, kosher, halal, dairy free, eating really healthy, obsessed with pizza or anything else, you will be able to find something to suit your needs.
Locations
Broadbeach: 1/2685-2689 Gold Coast Hwy, Broadbeach QLD 4218
Southport (The Brickworks Centre): 3/3 Brolga Ave, Southport QLD 4215
If you haven’t been to the Cardamom Pod yet you are really missing out. Both the Broadbeach and Southport venues give off a relaxed vibe with their tropical décor and friendly staff (it’s the perfect environment for a study break or a study coffee). The restaurant serves meals in a buffet style, meaning you don’t have to wait long for your food. There are options for everyone ranging from protein packed salads, to curries, pies, ice cream, smoothie bowls, cake and more. You can get a decent sized main starting from around $10 – what more could you want?
Location
3120 Surfers Paradise Blvd, Surfers Paradise QLD 4217
Did somebody say all you can eat for $14.90? Yes, that’s right. Head into Surfer’s Paradise and treat yourself to a mid-day or evening feast at Govindas. At their all you can eat buffet you can enjoy dhal, curry, kofta balls, pasta dishes, stir fry, veggies, shepherd’s pie, custards and more. If you’re not interested in eating a week’s worth of food in one sitting, you can opt for the small $7.90 single serve or the $9.90 medium serve options instead.
Location
6/2723 Gold Coast Hwy, Broadbeach QLD 4218
This one is for the junk-food loving plant based eaters out there. Offering burgers, pizza and more – Feed the Earthlings took out the ‘Gold Coast’s Best Burger’ award for 2017 by the Gold Coast Bulletin. Just one bite of their Classic Aussie Burger and you’ll know why. With meal deals as low as $15, you’ll be blown away by the taste of their completely vegan food. If you’re a bit skeptical when you hear the word vegan – check out a self-confessed carnivore’s reaction to unknowingly eating one of their burger’s here.
What else?
If you’re looking for somewhere even cheaper, check out your local pub or club. Often you will find lunch specials and large dinners ranging from $8 – $10 for members (plus they often have cheap beer, wine, and soft drink and lots of giveaways, such as members draws and weekly raffles).
