Top six productivity tips!
Productivity is something we can struggle with, both in our university life and personal life. However, it doesn’t always have to be that way. Here are six tips that can boost your productivity!
1. Morning time is the best time
Research has shown that we are most active and alert in the mornings. Why? We’re refreshed after a long night’s sleep and are ready to tackle the day. It’s a good idea to do the most important task of your day in the morning. Whether that be a workout, studying or running errands. Don’t procrastinate and leave it to the end of the day, get it out of the way!
2. Develop a routine
As university students, developing a routine can be challenging. But, it does help you save a lot of time. For example, make it a habit to meal plan on the weekend so you know what you’re eating for the rest of the week.
Another example would be planning your outfit for the next day beforehand. It’s the simple things that will make the most difference! Whether it be saving a week’s worth of lunch money or having a little bit more sleep in the mornings.
3. Don’t multitask!
If you are one of those extraordinary human beings that can do a million things at the same time, good for you! But for the rest of us muggles, it would probably not be the best idea. When you multitask, you risk being distracted as you are not focusing on one task. Also, jumping from one task to another can lead to you wasting a lot of time. So, do one task at a time.
4. Keep your to-do lists short and concise
For most of us, writing down to-do lists tends to make us feel very motivated to accomplish the day’s tasks. However, that ‘motivation buzz’ lasts for a few hours before you realise you cannot tick everything off of that list because you’re overwhelmed. So, keep your lists short and specific. Write down the most important tasks and make them a priority, that way, there’s a greater chance of you ticking them off!
5. Get a good night’s sleep!
I know how tempting it can be to have a bunch of junk food by your side and binge on ‘How To Get Away With Murder’ at 2AM. However, that will definitely not help with increasing your productivity. Getting a good night’s sleep is essential if you want to be productive with your tasks. So if you’re a night owl, try to reduce the amount of hours you’re up at night and go to sleep a bit earlier.
6. Make sure you eat!
Who doesn’t love food? If you want to make sure you’re performing to your best capabilities, make sure you eat well throughout the day! And no, unfortunately I’m not telling you to go to McDonald’s right now. Eat healthy, balanced meals that will nourish you and increase your brain power. Yeah I know, boring right? But it makes the most difference!
