Top 10 O-Week activities for new and continuing students
O-Week provides great opportunities for students to wander around the campuses, locate classrooms or lecture theatres and to meet others. Make sure to schedule your O-Week with the personalised planner if you are commencing a program at Griffith so you don’t miss out on welcome addresses and compulsory introductory workshops.
- Clubs and Societies
There are so many clubs and societies for students at Griffith. In O-Week, you are able to browse and join clubs at market day events with clubs covering special interests, professional development, community service, cultural and sports – you are sure to find activities that suit you.
- Wish I’d Known Workshop
These 45-minute workshops are delivered by Student Partners who are all current students wanting to share their helpful advice. Refer to your O-Week Planner for session times.
- Budgeting 101 and Money Habitudes Workshops
Budgeting 101 is an interactive workshop with tips on how to save money – plus you can get a $50 voucher for attending*!
In the Money Habitudes workshop, you will learn about how your habits and attitudes affect your decisions related to money. I highly recommend these workshops delivered by the Student Services.
- Earlybird Workshops and Library Tours
In February, there are loads of free earlybird workshops for all students to develop learning skills such as writing, researching and referencing assignments, study strategies and making an ePortfolio.
Get to know your library with a 15-minute tour during O-Week. Some of Griffith’s libraries are huge so it pays to get acquainted with the spaces and resources early on.
- Student Representative Council / Student Guild
Meet and greet your fellow Student Representative Council (SRC) or GUGC Student Guild members. These friendly faces are your elected undergraduate representatives and they are here to enhance student life (organising events, free food and more). In O-Week, they give out free study packs and useful giveaways to help students settle into the new trimester.
For postgraduate students, the Griffith University Postgraduate Students Association (GUPSA) and Gold Coast Association of Postgraduates (GCAP) will also have stalls in O-Week.
- Campus Tours
Tours are available throughout O-Week and are delivered by Griffith Mates or the Student Guild. Check your O-Week Planner for times and meeting places.
