From Sustainability to Recharge – the Trimester 2 events you can’t miss!
Even though we are over the half-way mark of Trimester 2, there’s still a lot of events planned across Griffith’s campuses. Be sure to mark your diaries with Sustainability, Recharge and Stress Less Week all taking place in the coming month. Here’s a list of activities worth checking out during the events!
Sustainability Week 3- 7 September
Sustainability Week welcomes everyone to be involved in Griffith’s sustainability agenda. Throughout the week, there will be activities, workshops and stalls to check out. Keep an eye out for the events I recommend attending, including:
Book Exchange- Mt Gravatt – Everyday
Head down to the Arts and Music Building M09 Level 1 foyer and you can leave one of your books in exchange for another or just browse through a selection of pre-loved books.
War on Coffee Cups- Nathan- Everyday
Join Griffith in the war against disposable coffee cups. Be sure to place your used coffee cups in the special collection tubes installed around campus.
If you head down to the Campus Heart throughout this week you can receive a free reusable coffee cup just for taking a survey!
Sustainability Fair – Gold Coast- September 4
The Student Guild is bringing you some fun-filled activities including free pedal powered smoothies, free Australian native plant giveaway, touch tank by Griffith School of Environment and animal displays.
Enviro Event- Logan- September 4
Check out the Enviro Event where there will be an array of workshops, stalls and activities on offer. This event will also be taking place across Mt Gravatt, Nathan and South Bank campuses too!
I Made Your Jewellery – an ethical jewellery stall- South Bank – September 5
If you’re based at South Bank, be sure not to miss the jewellery stall held by members of the Jewellery and Small Objects Student Collective. The students will be able to tell you where the materials are sourced from and the process used, as well as why it’s important to highlight the transparency in the supply chain.
Recharge Week 24- 28 September
Recharge Week is taking place across Logan, Nathan, South Bank and Mt Gravatt. This comes in due time as we will all be needing that extra push to get through the final rush of the trimester. There will be free henna tattoos, massages and even manicures on offer throughout the week.
Also be sure to keep an eye out for the Mystery Drop! The Mystery Drop is an activation on campus that can occur at random times of the day and involves free giveaways. Be sure to follow What’s on at Griffith on Facebook as they will let students know when and where the drops will take place.
For those on the Gold Coast Campus, relax and unwind before the stress of exams hit. The Student Guild will be hosting free workshops, yoga, game days and fun-filled stress less activities. Be sure to keep an on the Guild’s Facebook page for more details on Stress Less Week’s events.
