3 reasons why you should study in Trimester 3
Have you been thinking about what you are going to do with all your time off in the summer holidays? Why not continue to study and get credit towards your degree? Since 2017, Griffith University has offered a more formal Trimester 3 study option for both its domestic and international students. Studying in Trimester 3 presents an opportunity for you to diversify your normal study habits and even explore the world while gaining credit towards your degree. Here are 3 reasons why you should enrol to study in Trimester 3:
Be flexible and in control of your study load
The trimester system offers flexibility and control around your study load – with the option to pace your study to suit your needs without adding too much time to your degree, or fast track your studies and get a head start on your career with the possibility of graduating earlier. If you study full time across all 3 trimesters, you could finish your 3-year degree in just two years!
On the other hand, you can also utilise the opportunity of Trimester 3 to study part-time across three trimesters without adding too much time to the length of your degree. This means you will have more time for work and other commitments and can lighten the stress about trying to balance and manage all three at once.
Go Global
Trimester 3 also presents an amazing opportunity to Go Global with Griffith’s Exchange Program, and even Study Tours to other countries. You can apply to complete a semester of study overseas at one of Griffith’s partner universities. This gives you the opportunity to experience a new culture, grow more confident and independent, create an international network of friends and professional connections, possibly learn a new language and gain a global perspective of in your field. Griffith has partner universities in Hong Kong, Canada, Norway, Switzerland, England, Illinois and Montana. To learn more about Griffith’s partner universities, contact Griffith’s Go Global team.
Depending on your discipline, Griffith also runs Study Tours in Trimester 3 that could take you anywhere in the world, from the South Pacific to Morocco and South West Queensland to Spain. These study tours will even gain you credit towards your degree, and some more stamps on your passport!
Gain practical experience
You can enrol in Work Integrated Learning (WIL) courses over Trimester 3 which gives you an opportunity to gain experience in your chosen field. Placements vary from one day a week to full time over a 12-week period, depending on your discipline of study. Completing WIL courses over Trimester 3 gives you the time to focus your attention on reaping the rewards from your placement instead of having to divert your attention to the other subjects in your usual full-time study load during Trimester 1 and 2. When you successfully complete a WIL placement course, it is counted towards your degree. Make sure you check your degree requirements to ensure you are able to complete a WIL course.
