Griffith Grads – where are they now? Business & Marketing edn.
Have you ever wondered what life is like after graduation? Well end your worrying because I’m going to feature a range of unique Griffith graduates and showcase their remarkable stories. I’ve interviewed a bunch of past students to get a glimpse of their lives post-graduation and to see what goals they’re kicking now! So let’s kick it off business-style with Alisha Kelly – Marketing
What was your degree at Griffith University and when did you complete it?
I graduated in the middle of 2018 with a Bachelor of Business, Majoring in Marketing. I took part in two exchange programs during my degree, at Copenhagen Business School in Denmark and then Oxford Brookes University, Oxford, U.K during my final semester.
Where are you working now?
I am currently the Marketing Coordinator at the newly launched ‘YOT Club’.
What do your daily roles entail?
Well, no day is the same, that is for sure! The joy of being part of a start-up business is that it allows you to work in a range of different areas. Some days I am out on the yachts taking snaps for social media content and coming up with fun and creative strategies to grow our brand. Other days I am in the office working on marketing and social media strategies, building community engagement and client relations, as well as designing websites and sales platforms. I have also been lucky enough to be involved with some of the HR as well as event planning and coordination.
How did you get your job?
As I completed the final semester of my bachelor degree at Oxford Brookes University in the UK, I arrived home to begin applying and interviewing for marketing roles wherever I could. I was so lucky to score an interview with the owner of The YOT Club, which led to my first professional job in marketing.
What are your future goals?
I am loving my time where I am at the moment, and feel so lucky to have landed such an incredible first job. I am extremely passionate about overseeing a brand I care about, and helping it grow. I love the brand and marketing management side of things and would love to keep doing this for exciting companies.
Do you have any tips for students currently completing your degree?
My number one tip for current students completing a degree in marketing, or even a degree in any business related major, would be to trust yourself – you know more than you think you do! It’s always so nerve-wracking starting your first professional job in a field you’ve worked so hard for, but just stick to your guns and be confident – you’ll go far!
