How you can prepare for Griffith Open day

Griffith University Open Day, Sunday 11 August (9 am – 2 pm), will be a fun-filled day of information and activities. 

There is so much to see and do across three campuses – Gold Coast, Nathan and South Bank – that preparing for Open Day is essential.

So, here are three things you should do before you come to Open Day, so that you get the information you need to make an informed choice about your future.

Use the Griffith Open Day digital planner

With more than 240 information sessions on offer between our Gold Coast, Nathan and South Bank campuses, the first thing to do is to visit Griffith’s Open Day planner to plan your day.

After you register, the Open Day planner lets you select the activities and sessions you want to attend, and even allows you to email the itinerary to yourself – make sure you come prepared and ready to go for the day when you arrive on campus!

Attend the right campus

Each one of our campuses has something different to offer depending on your interests. Here are my recommendations:

• Gold Coast: The Gold Coast is the largest campus, offering degrees in health, science, engineering, IT, humanities, teaching, business and government, visual and creative arts, and popular music. During Open Day you can check out our state-of-the-art health and business facilities as well as our new Aquatic Centre.

• Nathan: If you’re looking to study at either our Mt Gravatt or Logan or Nathan campuses, I recommend attending Open Day at Nathan as you’ll find information about degrees offered at all of these campuses. Nathan will have information on our physiotherapy and occupational therapy, arts and humanities, law, science, aviation, engineering, IT, nursing, and business and government degrees.

• South Bank: For those looking to study something a bit more creative, I recommend attending Open Day at our South Bank campus. You’ll find information about degrees offered at the Queensland Conservatorium, the Queensland College of Art, the Griffith Film School, and the Griffith Graduate Centre.

Come prepared with questions

No question is too silly to ask. If you’re still unsure of what type of questions to ask, I have compiled a list to ensure you get the most out of Open Day. The questions are organised under four areas, which I found essential to understand when I began my university journey.

Admissions:
When are applications due?
What is the application process for my degree?
What are the entry options for a mature student?
When are the course intakes?
Are there any prerequisites to my degree?

General:
How do degrees from Griffith differ from other universities?
Is my degree transferrable and accepted if I want to take my career overseas?
What scholarships does Griffith offer?
What are the fees for my degree?
What’s the breakdown of costs for classes, housing and other expenses?
Can I work part-time while studying?
Is it okay to take a gap year before I start studying?

Courses:
If you’re unsure of what to study, then talk to one of our advisors about what interests you.
Are there opportunities for work experience during my degree?
How much time do I need to dedicate to study per week?
How many hours a week will I get face-to-face teaching?
How many students will be in the course?
Are placements or study abroad options on offer, where are they, do they count towards my degree, how do they affect tuition fees?

Life after Griffith: 
What career paths have recent graduates taken?
What support does Griffith offer in finding work experience?
What employment avenues does my degree provide?
How can I use my time at university to make myself more employable?

The Amazing Library Race, all day, Gold Coast, Nathan and South Bank campus libraries

There is no doubt that once your degree commences the library will become your second home. Race your way through each map point and answer questions to receive your prize.

Go Global Information Session, 12.30pm – 1.15pm, Gold Coast and Nathan campuses
