What’s on during Uni Mental Health and Wellbeing Week
Uni Mental Health and Wellbeing Week takes place from 9-13 September 2019, and includes World Suicide Prevention Day (10 September) and RUOK Day (12 September).
Throughout the week, each Griffith University campus will host a program of engaging activities to help raise awareness around mental health and wellbeing. Activities include live music, arts and crafts, free food and drink, plus loads more. Most of the activities take place between 11am-2pm, with the exception of a few special events, like yoga.
You can take a look at what’s happening at your campus here to find out how you can join in. Because are so many activities happening across our five physical campuses, I’ve narrowed it down for you – here are my top nine things to do:
#1 Jade Edmistone: achieving balance through balance (Gold Coast)
Jade is a world champion swimmer and Commonwealth Games Medallist. She will be presenting two mindfulness pool meditation sessions at the Aquatic Centre (G45) on Friday at 11.30am and again at 1pm. You don’t need to register for these sessions, but you can find out more here.
#2 Music for mental health
Enjoy live music on your campus and de-stress. Grab yourself one of the musical instruments and join in. From midday on Monday at Logan (Community Place), Tuesday at South Bank (Undercroft at QCA), Wednesday at Mount Gravatt (Undercroft), Thursday at Gold Coast (near the library and across University Drive) and Friday at Nathan (Campus Heart). #3 Conversation café
Have a friendly chat, meet new people and grab yourself a cookie and an iced tea. #4 Financial health check

#5 Community chalk art
Unleash your creativity with chalk art, with all materials provided. Between 11am-2pm Monday at Logan (Community Place), Tuesday at South Bank (Undercroft at QCA), Wednesday at Mount Gravatt (Undercroft), Thursday at Gold Coast (near the library and across University Drive) and Friday at Nathan (Campus Heart). #6 Obstacle course (Gold Coast)

#7 Free yoga (Nathan)
GUGC Freestyle Chillout Club and Griffith Yoga Lifestyle Club are providing some sessions including yoga asana, meditation and mindfulness. From 4pm on Friday at Multi-Faith Centre (N35) at Nathan. Find out more here.
#8 Sample a Sobah
Quench your thirst and enjoy sampling the Sobah range of non-alcoholic adult drinks at a pop-up bar. Between 11am-2pm Monday at Logan (Community Place), Tuesday at South Bank (Undercroft at QCA), Wednesday at Mount Gravatt (Undercroft), Thursday at Gold Coast (near the library and across University Drive) and Friday at Nathan (Campus Heart). Being a university student has its challenges and obstacles, so your mental health and wellbeing is very important.
